Carbon drivers in Luzerne crash

Carbon County drivers were involved in a two-vehicle crash in Luzerne County on Aug. 14 at 5:45 a.m.

State police at Hazleton said Kyra L. Krick, 26, of Albrightsville, driving a 2009 Subaru Impreza, was driving eastbound on Route 924 and attempting a left turn onto North Park Drive when she pulled into the path of a westbound 1993 GMC Sierra driven by Gary D. Knappenberger, 49, of Lehighton. The passenger side front of the Impreza was struck by the driver side front bumper of the Sierra.No one was injured. Troopers cited Krick for vehicle turning left.Troopers also reported investigating a one-vehicle crash about 9:45 a.m. on Aug. 12 along Route 309 in Hazle Township.Troopers said Harry D. Berlitz III, 40, of McAdoo, was driving a 2007 Pontiac G5 southbound and apparently had a medical problem which caused him to lose control. The car traveled across the northbound side of the road and went onto the berm and up an embankment. The car then collided with a utility pole.Damages were moderate to the vehicle and minor to the pole. Berlitz was injured and taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton Campus.
