Nearly one week later, Jesse Farber is still missing

Jesse Farber of Tamaqua vanished one week ago ago Tuesday.

Countless hours of searching by experts, volunteers, helicopters and K9 units have failed to produce a clue as to what happened to the 29-year-old father of two.

On Sunday Farber's brother, Jonathan, and cousin searched some of the more elusive spots along Sharp Mountain where a man might get lost.

"Corey Fritz and Jonathan searched the crevasses," said Rae "Sweetie" Ferryman Monday morning as she sat on the rear patio of her New England Valley home.

Ferryman is Farber's grandmother.

She and husband Patrick own land that stretches to the bottom of Sharp Mountain, and there's speculation Farber was trying to reach their house via a mountain path.

There also are reports of Farber having been seen late August 11 walking along Valley Road toward Tamaqua.

Five days of an all-out effort and countless hours of intensive mountain work by hundreds has failed to find an answer.

Speculation abounds as to what might've happened.

"I don't think he's on that mountain," said searcher Joe Shamonsky, Hometown, on Monday.

As a father and former firefighter, Shamonsky understands the heartache a parent endures when a child is missing or possibly hurt.

That empathy stirred him to offer his assistance at the base camp over the weekend.

Shamonsky's grandson Devon Moerder, 18, and his girlfriend Alexis Hird of Wind Gap, joined him.
