Mom offers $2,000 reward

For Norma Jean Fritz of Jim Thorpe, mother of missing Tamaqua man Jesse Farber, each day has been a struggle and a new challenge.

The mother of four has been thrust into unfamiliar roles almost by the hour as the hunt for her missing son continues. When she learned of her son's disappearance early last week, Fritz immediately began working with police, media and search teams. She spread the word via social media and helped with searches, trying to remain upbeat and positive even as each search concluded with no new developments.Long before the final search was called off Saturday, Fritz again jumped into action. She printed "missing person" posters and took to the streets to circulate the notices around the community. At the same time, she rallied her family, one of whom was out of the country.Fritz drove to Philadelphia later Saturday to pick up one of her sons who'd flown in from Army Reserves training in Germany to aid the family. Finally, with no other options, Fritz stepped up to organize her own search party Sunday. She offered a $2,000 reward and coordinated manpower needs and solicited food-and-beverage donations from a temporary setup at the base of Sharp Mountain. She's kept in touch with police and has contacted legislative offices seeking help.Fritz also turned to social media again on Sunday to ask the public for help concerning the location of any existing bear or animal traps on Sharp Mountain. At this point, there is no option or idea that can be considered "off the table."When the chips are down, a mother simply needs to wing it and think of every possibility."We don't have any specific plan of action," she said as she arrived at the edge of the thick woods of Sharp Mountain early Sunday. That's because her goal is to leave no stone unturned. She simply wants to find her son and will do whatever it takes.Fritz's friends and family are rallying around her during these difficult hours, including her boyfriend Frank Saise of New York City, Tina Melnick Love of Tamaqua, and many others.
