Weatherly police assisted U.S. Marshals in serving a warrant 0n July 30 on Jason Krug, 31, of Weatherly.

He was wanted out of Texas and had been evading police since 2008. He was placed in the county prison pending return to Texas.While assisting with the arrest of Krug, police found an indoor marijuana growing operation.Nine marijuana plants were taken from the home with four firearms and various other growing related materials.Also on July 30 police received a report that a AK-47 assault rifle had been stolen from a residence along Carbon Street. The suspect was Jason Soraci.On July 31, about 1:30 a.m., while on patrol, police stopped a vehicle driven by Greg Shaffer, of Drums, in the area of where the gun had been stolen.It was learned that Shaffer brought the stolen gun back to the victim's home.Soraci was arrested later in the day on charges of theft, felon not to process firearms and possession of drug paraphernalia. When he was arrested police found a heroin needle on him.
