Two arrested after McAdoo stop

A traffic stop for going the wrong way on a one-way street in McAdoo resulted in charges for two Hazleton residents on June 24.

An officer on patrol at 11:51 p.m. saw a silver Nissan traveling north on southbound only Rear Kennedy Drive. He made a traffic stop on Blaine Street. As the officer approached the Nissan, he noted a strong odor of marijuana escaping from the open window. The driver was identified as Hector Ledesma, who admitted he did not have a driver's license. A search of the car turned up a clear plastic cylinder containing leafy green vegetable matter. Several small pieces of suspected marijuana were also found in the center console cupholders.Ledesma and his passenger, Leslie Rivera, denied ownership of the container, so both were charged with possession of marijuana.
