Tamaqua 12 Blue wins PVLL tourney

Tamaqua 12 Blue capped an undefeated run through the Panther Valley 11-12 year-old Little League Tournament with a victory over Franklin Township Grey on Sunday. Tamaqua was presented the Joe Plasko Memorial Trophy as the tournament champion following the game.

L.L.11-12 TOURNAMENTTamaqua 12 Blue-Franklin GreyTamaqua 12 Blue finished undefeated by beating Frankiln Township Grey 19-2.Tamaqua Blue continued its powerful hitting by pounding out 18 hits. The Blue averaged 16 runs per game in the tournament.For Tamaqua Blue, Brian Milot and Joel Schellhammer had three hits each. Luke Van Buskirk had two hits and Nate Wickersham had two hits including a home run.Van Buskirk, Michael Shlanta, Caleb Monk and Aaron Coccio performed the pitching duties limiting Franklin to two hits.For Franklin, Hunter Crum had two hits.Jim Thorpe-Tamaqua WhiteJim Thorpe used home runs from John Malarkey and Ian Hubbard to get a jump on Tamaqua White for a 14-4 win.Caiden Hurley had two singles and combined with James Lordi for the win.Jim Thorpe-Franklin GreyJim Thorpe handed Franklin Township Grey a 9-4 loss.Julian Rickert double and singled for the winners, while Jared Joyce singled and doubled and John Malarkey added two singles.Bowman had a home run for Franklin.Tamaqua 12 Blue-Tamaqua 12 WhiteTamaqua 12 Blue continued its powerful hitting by beating Tamaqua 12 White 27-4.For Tamaqua Blue, Logan Hess had three hits as did Brian Milot, Aaron Coccio, Joel Schellhammer including a home run, and Nate Wickersham including a home run.Dante Agosti had two hits including a grand slam home run, Luke Van Buskirk also had a grand slam homer and Carson Krell had two hits.For Tamaqua White Alec Humes had two hits.PANTHER VY. L.L.9-10 TOURNAMENTJim Thorpe Blue-WeatherlyJim Thorpe Blue scored a 13-1 win over Weatherly in four innings thanks to the 10-run rule and went to 7-0 in the tournament.Kyle Eitner had a solo home run and Auggie Reinhardt had a single for Weatherly.For JT Blue, Richie Strack had four of the 19 hits including a triple and three singles and scored three times. Colby McHugh had two singles and two RBIs, Ryan Bailor had a double and a single with two RBIs and Drew Wimmer also doubled with an RBI.Ryan Bailor, Richie Strack and Chip Baldasanno combined to pitch the two-hitter.JT Blue remained unbeaten at 7-0 in tournament play so far.Franklin White-Jim Thorpe RedFranklin Township White handed Jim Thorpe Red a 13-3 loss in five Innings.Lukas Ferguson went two-for-two and score two runs, Wyatt Scherer went two-for-three with a triple, three RBIs and two runs scored, Connor McClure went two-for-four, scored two runs and was the winning pitcher.For Jim Thorpe, Noah Rosahac was two-for-two with a double.BLUE MOUNTAIN LEAGUERoseto-BerlinsvilleThe Bandits held off the Braves for a 5-3 win over the weekend.DeBoer went four-for-four with a double and RBI for Roseto. Hoyak had two hits and scored a run for the Braves.Luke was the winning pitcher, while Farnholtz suffered the loss.Berlinsville-HellertownThe Braves scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth, but it wasn't enough as they dropped a 5-3 decision to the Royals.Wilkins went two-for-four and scored a run for the Braves. Merkel had two hits and a double for the Royals.Reyes was the inning pitcher, while Tyler Svetik took the loss.
