The Bank of America, N.A., Plano, Texas, has filed a mortgage foreclosure complaint against Brandon Young, 80 Rhume St., Nesquehoning, administrator of the Estate of Monica L. Young, as well as the estate itself, over a property at 34 Coal St., Nesquehoning.The suit states Monica Young died on April 29, 2014.Judgment in the amount of $62,646.36, plus interest, attorney's fees and costs is sought.Deutsche Bank National Trust and First Franklin Mortgage Loan, both of Salt Lake City, Utah, have filed a mortgage foreclosure complaint against Marie G. Delaney, 20 Lake Drive, Nesquehoning, over a property at that address.Judgment in the amount of $147,345.79, plus interest, attorney's fees and costs is sought.Credit card billsDiscover Bank, New Albany, Ohio, has filed a civil action against Shannon L. Sotack, 1960 Hudson Drive, Weatherly, seeking judgment in its favor in a credit card default case. The plaintiff is seeking judgment in the amount of $1,935.11, plus costs.Portfolio Recovery Associates LLC, Norfolk, Virginia, has filed civil actions against four defendants in separate credit card default cases.The defendants are: Paul Letosky, 18 Fox Hill Road, Albrightsville, Steven E. Kunkle, 747 Fairyland Road, Lehighton, and Brandi Winters, 95 Church Road, Palmerton, and Alexander K. Dreher, 153 Millway St., Lehighton.The suit against Letosky seeks judgment in the plaintiff's favor in the amount of $660.19, plus costs; against Kunkel, judgment in the amount of $2,770.48, plus costs, is asked; against Winters, the plaintiff is seeking judgment in the amount of $1,950.84, plus costs; and against Dreher, the plaintiff is seeking judgment in its favor in the amount of $823.83, plus costs.Discover Bank, New Albany, Ohio, has filed a civil action against Roseann M. Kunkel, 2602 Quakake Road, Weatherly, seeking judgment in its favor in a credit card default case. The plaintiff is seeking judgment in the amount of $14,924.61, plus costs.State tax liensThe Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Revenue, Bureau of Compliance, has filed separate state tax liens against defendants in two cases.A lien filed against James J. Didyoung and Cheryl A. Didyoung, 35 Pine Needle Drive, Lehighton, is in the amount of $690.68 and the second lien, against Eric D. Andrews and Graell K. Andrews, 430 Spring Road, Palmerton, is in the amount of $922.89. Both liens state the defendants owe personal income taxes, plus costs.Suing grandparentsThe mother of a child who suffered burns in the home of her grandparents is suing them in a premises liability complaint.Amy Johnson, P.O. Box 811, Albrightsville, individually and as parent and natural guardian of a 2-1/2-year-old girl, is seeking damages in excess of the $50,000 jurisdictional limit for arbitration established by the court on four separate counts. Defendants are Marian Becker and Andrew Pfeiffer, 114 Washington St., Weatherly. A jury trial is demanded.The suit states on July 20, 2013, the minor, who is also listed as a plaintiff in the case, was in the custody of her father, Michael Marrero, at the home of her grandmother (Marian Becker) and stepgrandfather (Andrew Pfeiffer), when she sustained burns to her left leg due to exposure to either hot coals and/or a grill that was allegedly left on the ground by the defendants.The complaint contends due to the negligence of the defendants, the girl suffered second-degree burns of her lower left leg and buttocks, permanent scarring, change in coloration of her skin and severe shock to her nervous system.The mother is seeking judgment against both defendants for medical expenses she had to incur and will incur in the future, while the minor's claim is for medical expenses and the substantial pain and suffering the suit contends she has had to sustain.Richard J. Marusask, Esq., is named a plaintiff in the case as the Guardian Ad Litem of the minor, having been appointed to that position in a Luzerne County Court on Common Pleas action.Lender appealsMidland Funding, LLC, Essington, Pennsylvania, has filed an appeal of a magisterial district judge's ruling in a case involving a debt collection/credit card default case.The defendant is Phillip Silfies, 201 Birchwood Drive, Lehighton.On June 11, 2015, Magisterial District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek entered judgment in the amount of $10,327.33 in favor of Silfies, to which Midland Funding is challenging.
