The coroner has been called to the scene of a crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, at mile marker 74.1 northbound near Parryville.

Reports from the scene is that one person is dead and at least three have been flown to area trauma centers. Six passengers have been reported to be injured.

The incident happened at 8:25 p.m., just south of the Mahoning Valley interchange.

To avoid delays, motorists are being directed to I-476 NB at the Lehigh Valley (Exit 56) interchange.

The following detour is in effect: Take U S Route 22 east to State Route 145 north, to State Route 248 west, to US Route 209 north to re-enter I-476 NB at the Mahoning Valley Interchange (Exit #74).

All lanes remain blocked at the scene.
