Shinton doesn't start the game but enters as a reliever with just one out in the first inning. He tosses eight and two-thirds innings, giving up just three hits and an unearned run while striking out five. The winning pitcher also delivers an RBI single to help his cause. Lenny Scheese collects three hits for Lansford while Ted Vitek finishes with two hits and a pair of stolen bases.
