Cars on display in Palmerton

The 27th annual Pace Makers Association car show was crowded with spectators and car owners alike. The car show was held Saturday in Palmerton Memorial Park.

The variety of cars was an impressive range from a 1916 Buick, monster trucks, midget racer cars and a 78 Ford LTD fashioned into a perfect replica of the Ghostbusters mobile complete with theme song and flashing blue lights.The Pace Makers Association car show is one of its largest fundraising events. The money is put into a grant which any youth organization within 6 miles can apply for. The grant is awarded for sports equipment such as softballs, or playground equipment.Last year the Pace Makers awarded a $12,000 grant to the Palmerton Park.Along with the engine eye candy, a car donated by Slatington Lions Club was raffled off and tickets for a basket raffle were sold. Trophies were handed out with categories including oldest car. The winner of the oldest car trophy was Nathan Holmberg of Lehighton. Currently the car belongs to his grandfather but will be passed down to Nathan in the future.
