Two killed when ATV crashes into truck

Two people were killed when the stolen all-terrain vehicle they were riding rammed into the side of a tractor-trailer rig in Luzerne County Thursday.

State police at Hazleton identified the victims as Amber Judge, 31, and Eric Baker, 23, both of Nuremberg, Schuylkill County.Troopers said Judge was driving a 1994 Honda ATV northbound on Route 924, near the intersection with Interstate 81 in Hazle Township about 1:22 pm. at a high rate of speed. She proceeded through a red light at the off ramp of I80 to 924 when the atv collided into the side of a 2011 Freightliner tractor with trailer driven by Rhodell Carter, 76, of Windsor, Maryland. He had just exited the interstate.Judge and Baker died at the scene. Carter was not injured.Troopers said the ATV Judge was driving had been reported stolen out of Black Creek Township, Luzerne County, Thursday morning.The road was closed for several hours until the wreckage could be clear and troopers concluded their investigation. The scene is near the Humboldt Industrial Park.
