Schuylkill hires two corrections officers

The Schuylkill County Prison Board on Wednesday hired two corrections officers.

Kassandra Confer of Tamaqua and Matthew Rose of New Boston begin work on June 22 and will be paid $17.51 an hour.In related news, the county salary board created two jobs: judicial attendant in the court administration office and a clerk on the adult probation office. Both jobs are by the day on an as-needed basis. The jobs are to start July 1, but the board did not set wages.The board did set a salary of $26.23 for Charles Bauers of Pottsville, who started his job as a juvenile probation officer on May 29.A day-by-day job as benefits administrator in the Human Services Department was eliminated as of June 6. That job paid $21.19 an hour.In other matters, Controller Christy Joy released the latest retirement fund figures at a Retirement Board meeting Wednesday.As of that morning, the fund stood at $127,007,709, down slightly from May 31, when the fund was $128,024,722.
