Palmerton toddler hurt when car strikes wagon

A 2-year-old child sustained minor injuries after the wagon she was being pulled in was struck by a car Thursday morning in Palmerton.

Borough patrolman Christopher Ritter said the incident occurred just before 11 a.m. at Sixth and Delaware Avenue.Ritter said the driver, Ann Morgan, 62, of Tunkhannock, Wyoming County, was driving a 2014 Ford Fusion owned by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, for which she is employed.Morgan was stopped while traveling south on Sixth Street, and was going to make a right-hand turn onto Delaware Avenue as she was awaiting for an opening of traffic.At the time, Travis Fink of Palmerton was walking on the north side of Delaware Avenue, crossing from the 500 to 600 block, pulling a wagon with his daughter inside, Ritter said.Morgan didn't see them in the crosswalk, and as she started to enter traffic, she struck the left rear of the wagon with the left front bumper of her car.The girl received minor injuries, he said.Ritter said no charges have been filed.
