DOYLESTOWN (AP) A jury is deciding whether a suburban Philadelphia man will be sentenced to death in the killing of a pregnant woman and her daughter.
The Intelligencer in Doylestown reports closing arguments were presented Monday.Jurors are determining whether 22-year-old Marcel Johnson should be executed or spend the rest of his life in prison without parole.The Bristol Township resident was convicted last week in the November 2013 deaths of 22-year-old Ebony Talley and 4-year-old R'Mani Rankins. Johnson was also convicted of third-degree murder in the death of Talley's unborn child.Prosecutors say Johnson intended to inflict pain on Talley before killing her and her unborn child. Johnson's attorney says his client was a troubled child who was abused by his mother.Deliberations are expected to continue today.
