Sewer fee

Dear Editor,

In regards to the joint meeting with the Coaldale-Lansford-Summit Hill Sewer Authority, Coaldale, Lansford and Summit Hill boroughs to discuss the "Sanitary Corrective Action Plans."How much is this going to cost each borough business and homeowner? Do you know that each of the boroughs gets back from the sewer authority 2 percent of the bill, which is not that much. But it is something that the borough should have been putting in a sewer account. Instead they put it in the general account to balance the budget. This payment from the sewer authority to each borough started years ago, when the sewer plant was built. That is a long time! Each of these boroughs should have been putting this into a special account for future repairs to the sewer lines. The borough of Lansford had a big sewer line collapse on Courtright Street. That is when the sewer transmission fee came about. That loan should be paid off in 2016.But I doubt it will be, because some people told me that they were not paying it when it first started.Just my thoughtsRobert BenekLansford
