Crocheting for a cause

While many of us spend the frigid days of winter lamenting the cold and pinning for the warmth of spring, a special group of women spent their time crafting for some very special babies.

The Home Spun Committee of Gnaden Huetten Chapter 203 Order of the Eastern Star knitted and crocheted 400 preemie hats that were then donated to local hospitals.Among the hospitals receiving hats were Lehigh Valley, Geisinger and St. Lukes Hospital-Allentown Campus. It was a wonderful way to spend some free time in the winter and welcome some special babies into the world. The committees kindness did not stop there. They also crafted a beautiful afghan that was donated to the Veteran's Hospital in Wilkes-Barre.

Special to the Times News Eldora Snyder and Leroy Leibenguth hold the veterans afghan donated by the Home Spun Committee.
