Berks driver facing multiple charges

A Berks County driver is facing multiple charges after he led police on a chase in which speeds reached 115 miles-per-hour.

State police at Fogelsville said the incident began at 1:09 a.m. Tuesday along Interstate 78 eastbound in Upper Macungie Township. Lehigh County.Troopers said a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze passed a patrol unit at the above location traveling at a high rate of speed. Troopers clocked the vehicle at 115 mph in a 55 zone and attempted a vehicle stop.The driver accelerated and failed to stop. A pursuit began and it continued for 4.4 miles. During the pursuit the Cruz was observed weaving in and out of lanes across all eastbound lanes.The driver finally stopped. He was identified as David Marcus Adams, 38, of Bally. While attempting to take him into custody he resisted arrest. He showed signs of intoxication. After being arrested he was transported to the county DUI center where he submitted to a blood test.Adams has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, fleeing or attempting to elude police, recklessly endangering another person, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, driving on roadways laned for traffic, turning movements and required signals, driving at an unsafe speed, maximum speed limits, careless driving and reckless driving.
