the Palmerton Memorial Pool's 69th annual opening on Saturday. Despite the watertemperature at just 66 degrees, that didn't stop area youth from enjoying the pool. Tate was accompanied to the pool by his grandmother, Carolyn Everett. "I have older grandchildren that have been coming for years on the first day," Everett said. "Today he was excited to come, so we decided to come." Pool manager Larry Arner said over 600 people attended on Monday. The pool is now on regular summer hours, from noon to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and 1-8 p.m. Sunday, with the exception of June 1 and June 4, when the pool will open at 3 p.m. For more information, call 610-826-5357, or visit
