Jim Thorpe man is sought in two counties

A Jim Thorpe man who police said illegally possessed diazepam is a wanted man in Carbon and Bucks counties.

Police tried to stop Scott David Collins, 34, of 921 North St., on March 13 along Route 209 near Subway due to their prior knowledge that his license was suspended for a DUI-related incident.Officer Matthew Schwarz said Collins sped away into the Jim Thorpe Market parking lot, where he attempted to flee on foot.After an order to surrender, Collins was apprehended and a search revealed a large knife in his pocket.Police took him to the Carbon County Correctional Facility while they searched the Dodge Durango he was driving.A state police K-9 indicated the presence of narcotics in the vehicle, which led police to find the diazepam and trace amounts of methamphetamine powder directly next to where Collins was seated.Collins was charged with one misdemeanor count each of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, and one summary count of driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked.He posted his unsecured bail of $20,000 and failed to show up for a court hearing, according to police.Collins is also wanted in Bucks County for a parole violation.Anyone with information on Collins' whereabouts is asked to contact the Jim Thorpe Police Department at 570-325-4995, or the Carbon County Sheriff's Department at 570-325-7860.
