Palmerton woman sentenced to state prison on theft count

A Palmerton woman was sentenced to a state prison term last week in Carbon County court.

Nicole Ann Park, 33, was sentenced by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II to serve a total of one to two and a half years in a state correctional institution followed by one year of probation. She previously pleaded guilty to one count of criminal conspiracy-theft by receiving stolen property.Park was arrested by Franklin Township police for her part in the theft of a Smith & Wesson .38-caliber handgun from a home in the 400 block of Main Road on or about Nov. 12, 2013.She told Nanovic that she stole the gun to trade for illegal drugs in the Allentown area. She admitted to a heroin addiction.Nanovic also ordered her to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendations for treatment, supply a DNA sample, zero tolerance imposed on D&A use, make restitution of $350 to the victims, and pay court costs of about $1,000.She was given credit for 82 days spent in jail on the charge.
