The May meeting of the Tamaqua Board of Health took place at the Tamaqua Municipal Building with Earl Boettger, Christine Zizelmann R.N., Shirley Becker and health officer Judith Hadesty R.N. in attendance.The board reviewed the monthly report of Matthew Meyers, health enforcement officer, noting a total of 50 health licenses have been issued to date for the year. An additional five inspections were conducted, but had to be failed.Complaints made and adjusted included: one building condemned as unfit for human habitation and three trash complaints.There were no cases of reportable diseases for the month.The board meets the first Wednesday of each month, at 10 a.m., in the Tamaqua Municipal Building, 320 E. Broad St., Tamaqua.Teen book clubThe Tamaqua Public Library's Teen/Young Adult Book Club will meet at 6 p.m. Monday. The theme is "Exploring the World in Books."New members are always welcome.For more information, call 570-668-4660.Zion LewistownPastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday in Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes will be held at 9:15 a.m.Zion's Valley Christian preschool graduation exercises will be held during the morning worship service.Bible study sessions are held at 12:30 p.m. Thursdays.On Thursday, the Confirmation class will meet at 6:30 p.m. and the consistory will meet also meet at 6:30 p.m.
