Pocono caretaker charged with homicide

A Monroe County woman, who was caretaker for an elderly county resident who died last December, has been charged with his death.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said Judith Marc, 56, of 575 Scenic Drive, Albrightsville, was arrested Thursday at her home on charges of homicide, neglect of care of dependent person, aggravated assault, abuse of corps, and tampering with evidence.Police said on Dec. 27 they responded to the residence at 1038 Country Place Drive, Tobyhanna, Coolbaugh Township, after William Collins, 92, was found deceased by Marc.The initial investigation revealed several injuries on Collins that did not match statements made by Marc.On Dec. 30 an autopsy on Collins led to Pocono detectives executing a search warrant at the residence.Additional investigation into the death of Collins led to a coroner's inquest being conducted on April 14 and 15. The jury ruled that the cause and manner of the death of Collins was blunt force trauma to the head and neck and the death was ruled a homicide.A second search warrant was executed on April 27 with additional evidence collected at the residence.Marc was arraigned Thursday on the charges and committed to the county prison without bail.Pocono police were assisted in the investigation by state police, the county coroner's office and the district attorney's office.
