Palmerton woman injured in crash

A Palmerton woman suffered a minor injury Saturday when her 2001 Ford Focus crashed into a guard rail and concrete divider on Route 248 in Lower Towamensing Township.

Karen S. Kolek, 66, was eastbound around 4:30 p.m. when her car fishtailed out of control and hit the guard rail a quarter-mile east of the Palmerton exit, police said.The vehicle then crossed the left lane, hit the concrete divider, continued east, bounced off the divider again, crossed the right lane and hit the guard rail, crossed the left lane and bounced off the divider a third time.Kolek was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, by Palmerton ambulance.Aquashicola Fire Company assisted at the scene.Police said Kolek was driving too fast for conditions and would be cited.Two passengers in the car, a 25-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man, both from Palmerton, were not injured.
