Mahoning supervisors award contract for road materials

Mahoning Township supervisors awarded their annual contract for road materials to sole bidder Lehigh Asphalt on a unanimous vote at Wednesday night's township meeting.

A similar request for fuel, propane and gasoline supplies was not bid by any vendors.Awarded was a bid for 2,100 tons of super pave 9.5mm at a cost of $62 per ton FOB, for a total of $130,200 and $70 per ton delivered for a total of $147,000.Also, a bid for 800 ton of super pave 25mm at a cost of $51.45 per ton FOB, for a total of $41,160 and $61.45 per ton delivered for a total of $49,160, and 500 ton of AASHTO No. 8 at a cost of $13.50 per ton FOB, for a total of $6,750 and $17.75 per ton delivered for a total of $8,875.Lehigh Asphalt was also awarded 1,500 tons of AS2, AS3 or AS4 at a cost of $10 per ton FOB for a total of $1,500, and a cost of $14.25 per ton delivered for a total of $8,875.Also 500 tons of select granular material 2RC at $9.50 per ton FOB for a total of $4750 and $13.75 per ton delivered for a total of $6,875, and 500 ton of #3 stone at a cost of $10.75 per ton FOB for a total of $5,375 and a cost of $15 per ton delivered for a total of $7,500.They were also awarded a bid for 500 tons of #1 stone at a cost of $10.75 per ton FOB for a total of $5,375 and a cost of $15 per ton delivered for a total of $7,500 and 500 ton of ASSHTO No 57 at a cost of $10.75 per ton FOB for a total of $5,375 and a cost of $15 per ton delivered for a total of $7,500.In other business, solicitor Tom Nanovic notified the board that he was finally able to get the outstanding deed signed by Oscar Beck for the property adjacent to the Walmart intersection which has been outstanding for at least two years.The property deed also needed to be signed by supervisors so that it could be recorded and turned over to PennDOT. The supervisors unanimously approved having Chairman John Wieczorek sign the deed. Wieczorek is also the designated chief administrator for the township.
