Allentown Symphony Orchestra to take Classical Mystery Tour

The four musicians in Classical Mystery Tour look and sound just like The Beatles, but Classical Mystery Tour is more than just a rock concert.The full show presents some Beatles tunes sung, played and performed exactly as they were written.Hear "Penny Lane" with a live trumpet section; experience the beauty of "Yesterday" with an acoustic guitar and string quartet; enjoy the rock/classical blend on the hard-edged "I Am the Walrus."From early Beatles music on through the solo years, Classical Mystery Tour is the best of The Beatles like you've never heard them totally live.Diane Wittry will conduct.This weekend the symphony hosts jazz trumpeter and vocalist Byron Stripling who will light up Miller Symphony Hall with the pure joy of music-making with the Sounds of New Orleans: A Louis Armstrong TributeByron Stripling's electrifying and heartfelt tribute to Louis Armstrong and his engaging rapport, jazzy vocals and virtuosic trumpet sounds dazzles audiences wherever he goes.Musical hits include: "What a Wonderful World," "Saint James Infirmary," "Royal Garden Blues," "Hello Dolly," "Basin Street Blues," "Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans" and his signature version of "When The Saints Go Marching In."The ASO Pops Concert will be conducted by Ronald Demkee at 8 p.m. Saturday.Next weekend the classroom and bedtime favorite, "The Adventures of Harold and the Purple Crayon," will be performed at 2 p.m.For tickets or for more information call the box office at 610-432-6715, or visit
