Slain trooper's parents say they forgive suspected ambusher

TOBYHANNA, Pa. (AP) - The parents of a slain Pennsylvania State Police trooper say they have forgiven his alleged killer.

Bryon and Darla Dickson appeared at a church in the Pocono Mountains on Sunday morning to talk about how their lives have changed since their son was ambushed outside his northeastern Pennsylvania barracks in September.Thirty-one-year-old Eric Frein is charged with killing Cpl. Bryon Dickson II and critically injuring Trooper Alex Douglass.The anti-government survivalist was captured after a 48-day manhunt.Dickson's parents say they are relying on their deep faith to get them through the loss of their son.Darla Dickson says Frein needs to face justice, but she forgives him because it helps her replace the hurt and pain.She says forgiveness "gives you hope for tomorrow."Frein has pleaded not guilty.Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
