Several crashes investigated

State police at Lehighton reported investigating the following crashes.

A two-vehicle crash was reported at 5:30 p.m. April 22 along Route 209 (Interchange Road), in Towamensing Township, Carbon County.Troopers said Samantha R. Formato, 21, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt northbound while Leisa M. Ahner, 48, of Lehighton, driving a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu, was stopped on 209 attempting to turn right onto Anderson Drive. The front of the Cobalt struck the Malibu in the rear.No one was injured. Troopers cited Formato for following too closely.A one-vehicle crash occurred at 5:55 p.m. April 22 along High Hill Road, in Polk Township.Troopers said John R. Grimaldi, 38, of Effort, was driving a 2007 Hyundai Azera northbound when he lost control because he was driving too fast for conditions.The vehicle went onto the east berm and struck a utility pole with the front end.Grimaldi was injured and taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance.Troopers cited Grimaldi for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.A crash occurred at 5:17 a.m. April 23 in the area of 8400 Interchange Road (Route 209), in Towamensing Township.Troopers said Piotr Noga, 39, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2014 Honda Odyssey northbound when two bears ran in front of the vehicle. The Honda struck one of the bears. Noga was not injured.Troopers did not indicate what happened to the bear.A one-vehicle crash was reported at 1:43 a.m. April 25 along Forest Street in Franklin Township, Carbon County.Zack D. Beddiges, 24, of Lehighton, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze LS northbound and failed to negotiate a curve.The Cruze traveled across the southbound lane and into a wooded area along the berm. The vehicle then struck a tree with the driver's side before re-entering the road and coming to rest along the west berm.Beddiges was not injured and the vehicle sustained moderate damages. Troopers cited Beddiges for the crash.
