Two charged in fake crack cocaine sale

An investigation that targeted the sale of crack cocaine has led to the arrest of a Carbon County man and a Schuylkill County woman.

On March 31, 2015 officers from the Mahoning Township Police Department conducted a narcotics investigation as members of the Carbon County Drug Task Force.The investigation targeted the sale of crack cocaine.As part of the investigation, Michael Olk, 25, of 815 Frederick's Grove Road, Mahoning Township, was contacted by phone. Olk agreed to deliver an eight ball of crack cocaine.He was picked up at his residence, and he directed the occupants of the vehicle to drive to the 100 block of S. Fourth Street. Olk was given prerecorded cash on the way.When they arrived at the 100 block of S. Fourth Street, Olk got ot of the car and approached a white Jeep Cherokee with a female driver.Olk gave the woman the money in exchange for two bags of suspected crack cocaine.Olk was placed under arrest and the suspected crack cocaine was seized.The driver of the Jeep, Randi Solt, 26, of Mahanoy City, was stopped and placed under arrest. Solt was found in possession of the prerecorded money.During interviews, both admitted that they had agreed to sell a fake substance in lieu of crack cocaine.The suspected crack cocaine did not test positive for a controlled substance.Olk was arraigned and placed in Carbon County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail on the following charges: Possession with intent to manufacture or deliver (felony); criminal conspiracy, possession with intent to manufacture or deliver (felony); unlawful possession of a controlled substance (misdemeanor); and criminal use of a communication facility (felony).Solt was arraigned and released in lieu of $75,000 unsecured bail on the following charges: Possession with intent to manufacture or deliver (felony); criminal conspiracy- possession with intent to manufacture or deliver (felony); and unlawful possession of a controlled substance (misdemeanor).Preliminary hearings for both are scheduled on April 29 at the office of Magisterial District Judge Lewis.
