Spaghetti dinner to benefit cancer patient

A spaghetti dinner will be held to benefit a local cancer patient.

The dinner and raffle for Dawn George will be held from 3-8 p.m. Friday at the Aquashicola Fire Company.The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for kids ages 5-12, and free for kids under 5. The drawing of raffles will be held at 8 p.m.Dinner will include a salad, spaghetti and meatballs, dinner roll, dessert and beverage.There will also be a bake sale, various gift baskets and gift certificates, along with a 50/50 drawing.George, whose stem cell transplant is ongoing, has waged a decades-long battle with cancer.In 1987, at the age of 20, she had non-Hodgkin lymphoma chemo-radiation.At age 24, she had cancer of the spleen, which required a bone-marrow transplant.In 2007, she had breast cancer, and had to undergo a double mastectomy.Her husband, Scott, 44 at the time, suffered a massive heart attack in 2010.Since last year, Dawn, 47, has had leukemia.All proceeds raised will benefit George.
