Northwestern Elementary School to dedicate new American flag

Northwestern Elementary School in the Northwestern Lehigh School District will be unveiling a brand new American flag on Friday to the student body and school officials.

This massive American flag, donated to the school by state Rep. Gary Day, will span 9-by-12-feet and be permanently hung in the elementary school's gymnasium.To commemorate the unfurling of the flag, a small ceremony will be held in honor of this special occasion at 2 p.m. Friday in the elementary school gym, located at 6493 Route 309 in New Tripoli.Day, as well as school officials, will be attending to "cut the ribbon" on the school's new stars and stripes.In addition, a school music group will be performing, student essays about the importance of the American flag will be read and a brief "TigerVision (the Northwestern Elementary TV show) Exclusive" about the American flag's history will be aired."The new flag will serve as a reminder to students of our nation's history and as a symbol of American pride," said Principal Maria Pulli as she talked about the importance of this new flag.
