Schuylkill driver in Lehigh crash

A Schuylkill County driver was the victim in a hit-and-run crash in Lehigh County. Upper Macungie Township police said the crash occurred at 7:09 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Route 100 and the on-ramp, also known as the Trexlertown bypass, leading to Route 222.

Police said Maureen Fitzpatrick, 66, of Branchdale, was traveling northbound on Route 100 and stopped in the right lane behind two tractor-trailers at a traffic light for the on-ramp.Fitzpatrick said she had been stopped for about 30 seconds when the light turned green. As she started to move forward, her 2015 Subaru Forester was struck from behind by another vehicle. Fitzpatrick said she turned right onto the ramp and then onto the berm, but the other vehicle left the scene. Fitzpatrick was not injured but her passenger, Diane Ehlinger, 61, of Minersville, complained of back pain but refused medical treatment.Damages were moderate to the Forester. The hit-and-run vehicle was a green, full-sized dump truck with possible damage to the left front bumper area.
