Lehighton's 150 committee plans for 2016

The Lehighton 150 Celebration committee is busy planning for the eight-day celebration next summer, and is looking for volunteers.

The committee meets on the first Monday of every month at the Pfc. Clyde R. Houser Building, former Lehighton Borough Annex, beginning at 6 p.m.The committee also focuses on advertising, fundraising, designing commemorative items and obtaining sponsorships.To produce partnerships that benefit businesses throughout the community and the Lehighton 150th Anniversary Celebration Committee, the following levels of sponsorship and incentives are available:• 1866 Millennial Sponsor of $5,000 will get a business the standing of parade marshal, banners displayed in parade and at fireworks Show.• 1916 Centurion Sponsor of $2,500 will be granted a parade division sponsorship with banner and display at a band concert.• 1966 Centennial Sponsor of $1,000 will become a band concert sponsor with banner display.• 2016 Era Sponsor of $500 will have their name listed on brochures.The committee is also accepting $100 donations in the form of patron listing.All sponsors and patrons will be listed in the anniversary booklet.Questions and inquiries should be directed to Clark Ritter at 570-688-5071.Upcoming fundraising events with dates to be announced include: the second annual Battle of the Badges, a History of Lehighton event, and a variety show.Scheduled for noon May 17 is the Art Gala Fundraiser in partnership with the Carbon County Art League, held at the Pfc. Clyde R. Houser Building.The gala event, led by Helen Torok, will feature local work of international artist Franz Kline, as well as many other localartists.
