Seven Times News area tennis players will be in action Wednesday during the opening round of the District 11 singles tournaments.
Heading the list is Pleasant Valley's Jon White, the only area player to be seeded.White, the Bears' No. 1 singles player, earned a No. 4 seed in the Class AAA field and will take on Freedom's Aidan Bodeo-Lomicky.PV's No. 2 singles player, Erik Ammermann, was also selected to the field of 32. Ammermann opens against East Stroudsburg North's Will Kyaw, who is seeded seventh.The other five TN players in action Wednesday will be competing in Class AA. They include Lehighton's Tegan Durishin, Palmerton's Rich Roselli and the Jim Thorpe trio of John Lowin, Luke Eggert and Brett Luicana.Durishin received the toughest opening-round draw among the TN participants. The Indian junior faces No. 6 seed Adam Kramer of Moravian Academy.The rest of the local matchups are among unseeded players. Those matchups include: Lowin vs. Grant Klinger of Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg, Eggert vs. Peter Demyan of Bethlehem Catholic, Luicana vs. Anthony Polizzi of Pen Argyl, and Roselli vs. Kyle Rich of Blue Mountain.The Class AAA opening and second rounds will take place at Saucon Valley while Parkland will be the site for Class AA.
