Nesquehoning Borough officials expressed dissatisfaction with the state's timing of a $10,000 grant approved for air conditioning and electrical work at the borough's recreation center.

Councilman Louis Paul said the Department of Community Affairs grant was signed on April 10 and lapses on June 30, a timeline he said gave the borough only two months to advertise for bids, award a contract, have the work completed and execute payment for the job.Afterwards Attorney Thomas S. McCready, solicitor, reviewed a memorandum the borough received with the grant paperwork, saying he believed the borough had to commit to the project by the June date and would then have a one-year time period to complete the task.
