Father, son cited by Tamaqua police

A Tamaqua man was cited, and his son was arrested, after an incident in the borough on Sunday.

A police officer on patrol at 3:22 p.m. saw Michael Neff Sr., 47, of 538 Pine St., behind the wheel of a Honda Civic.The officer was familiar with Neff and knew his license had been suspended, due to a driving under the influence incident. Neff was stopped in the area of Center Street and freely admitted to driving with a suspended license.The Honda was towed from the scene and Neff was given a ride home.Once at the home the officer asked about Michael Neff Jr., who had a warrant out for his arrest.The elder Neff said he didn't think the son was home but the officer was welcome to conduct a search. The officer went inside.While he didn't find the younger Neff he did find a plastic bag filled with green vegetable matter, four pipes and three blue pills in plain sight on a table.Neff Sr. admitted the drugs items were his and offered the information that his son was driving a gray Volkswagen Jetta.A short time later the officer was patrolling in the area of Pine Street when he saw a gray Jetta parked to the side of the Neff house.He stopped and spoke with Neff Sr., who agreed to tell his son he was wanted by police.Neff Jr. went out the side door but stopped when the officer saw him.The younger Neff was transported to the Carbon County Prison, in Nesquehoning, due to the warrant.The elder Neff faces charges of driving with a suspended license, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
