A Monroe County truck driver was killed when he crashed his rig along a county road on Tuesday evening.

Pocono Mountain Regional police identified the victim as PaulMcDonald, 60, of Pocono Lake.Police said the crash occurred along Route 940 at 7:45 p.m. Police said McDonald was driving a tractor with trailer westbound in the area of the Liberty Plaza. The vehicle went off onto the shoulder while he was negotiating a right to left downhill curve.Police said it appears the truck hit a construction work area on the shoulder, which caused the load to shift in the trailer. The trailer then tipped over, causing the truck to overturn and collide with a large tree.McDonald was pronounced dead at the scene. Assisting police were volunteers from the Tobyhanna Township Fire Department, Pocono Regional EMS unit, and the county coroner's office.
