A Jim Thorpe resident has been charged with insurance fraud by borough police.

Police said Brian Keith Moore, 36, of 15 E. Fourth St., has been charged with insurance fraud, a felony, insurance fraud-providing false information on an insurance application, a misdemeanor; unsworn falsification to authorities, a misdemeanor; and summary offenses of accidents involving damage to unattended vehicle or property, immediate notice of accident to police, and driving citations.Police said the charges stem from an incident that occurred at 624 Center St. at 4 p.m. March 1. Police said Moore had struck a parked vehicle at that location with his vehicle and fled the scene. When questioned by police, Moore denied any wrongdoing.Through a further investigation, police were able to gather evidence which proved otherwise. Police said they also learned that Moore had filed an insurance claim for his vehicle. Moore was interviewed at a later date and denied any wrongdoing again. When confronted with the evidence, Moore admitted to striking the parked vehicle, police said.
