Weaver runs for district attorney

Attorney Adam Weaver announced his candidacy for Carbon County District Attorney. Weaver lives in Summit Hill with his wife, Kelli, and two daughters.

Weaver is a small-business owner, operating his law practice in Lehighton. In addition to a general practice of law, he represents low-income criminal defendants through court appointments.Weaver graduated from Duquesne University with a dual major in philosophy and psychology and from Ohio Northern College of Law. He studied abroad in the London Law program through the University of Notre Dame and at the University of Iceland. Weaver is a 2010 graduate of the Leadership Carbon program.Weaver looks to address the county's growing heroin abuse epidemic and crimes that result from it. Besides destroying the lives of drug addicts, it also takes a heavy toll on their families, neighborhoods, and the local economy."We must find creative solutions that are tailored to address drug-addicted offenders to stop them from committing more serious crimes. Without a clear vision or goal, we are wasting resources and taxpayer dollars without any results. It is important to be both tough and smart on crime."Making sure that residents are able to live in homes and neighborhoods that are safe is of utmost importance.Weaver said, "We need to take a more collaborative approach with local agencies and organizations on the topic. Establishing a Blight Task Force to work with local government officials and code enforcement officers to identify and remove blighted properties that devalue our homes and contribute to a rise in local crime rates."Ensuring that all people are treated and prosecuted equally on the basis of the law is important to prevent favoritism within the court system. Victims' rights must be the highest priority."As a father of two young daughters in the Panther Valley area, I have a vested interest in ensuring the safety of our Carbon County communities. Keeping criminals off of the streets is a public service second to none. It is our time to step up to protect our communities and our children. That is why I ask for your support."
