Report of drug deal leads to Coaldale arrest

Coaldale Police arrested Michael Keiffer, 31, of 154 Third St., Coaldale, after investigating a suspicious incident at Pappy's Mini Mart, Route 209, on April 2.

Officers were dispatched to the area at 5:20 p.m. after someone reported a possible drug deal taking place in the parking lot. On scene, an officer was speaking with witnesses, who said four men appeared to be dealing drugs minutes before the officer arrived. They were able to identify the men and said one walked away, headed west toward Tamaqua, while the other three left in a green Ford pickup.While the officer was still gathering information, a green pickup came from the rear of the building and exited the parking lot. That vehicle was then stopped on East Ridge Street. Keiffer was a passenger in the truck on the rear seat. A records check through the Schuylkill County Communications Center confirmed there was a warrant for his arrest.While waiting for the records, officers did a consent search of the truck and found an orange syringe stuffed down the seat where Keiffer had been sitting.Keiffer was transported to the Carbon County Correctional Facility, where he was lodged on the warrant. He was also cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
