The Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania Northern Lehigh Service Unit 733 will be holding a Spring Girl Scout sign-up event.

The event will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Christ Church fellowship hall, 309 Main St., Walnutport. Parking will be available behind the church. Use the red door to enter the lower level fellowship hall.Troops are forming for the 2015-16 Girl Scout year. Placement is still available for the current 2014-15 troop year. Troop leaders will be available to answer questions.Girls in grades kindergarten through 12 are invited to learn more about Scouting through songs, games and crafts.Summer camp opportunities and financial aid information will also be available to all girls in the Northern Lehigh School District.All girls who sign up for troop placement will receive a Girl Scout welcome gift. If she attends and brings a friend she will also receive a free gift and a chance to be entered in a drawing for a special prize.Girls who will be in kindergarten and first grade in the fall of 2015 are encouraged to sign up for the first-time for placement in troops for the 2015-16 troop year.Any girls signing up now will be invited to a special bridging to Daisies event during the summer.In addition, parents who would like to be involved can sign up to become a volunteer.Positions are available as leaders, co-leaders and assistant leaders on all levels, as well as Service Unit positions.Those who cannot attend tonight's event are still welcome to join in and get more information by contacting troop organizer Laurie Peters-Beers at 610-462-7301 or by email at lpeters-beers@netzero.net.
