Dr. James Steber's tenure at the Carbon County Area Vocational Technical School, Jim Thorpe, came to an end with his retirement this week.

Dr. Steber was the school's director of curriculum and instruction/staff development for the past three years, having previously served as principal there.Under his watch, the CCAVTS evolved into a full-time, comprehensive program in the 1990s. Among Dr. Steber's accomplishments was securing a $700,000 grant that allowed the school to install a state-of-the-art computer lab at the facility.
