Denture checkup

Sherry Dental at 41 W. Broad St. in Tamaqua is hosting "Denture Days" this Friday and Saturday, offering a free checkup for current denture and partial denture wearers.No appointments are necessary, and availability is on a first-come, first-served basis.Dr. Kile Sherry will conduct a complimentary exam and answer questions related to cracked, worn and ill-fitting dentures.Hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.Sorority newsThe Preceptor Alpha Upsilon chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority met March 11 at the home of Mary Machay in Tamaqua. preparations were finalized for the annual Tamaqua Community Easter egg hunt. Following the business session, Marie Umbriac provided a presentation on useful household tips for the busy homemaker.The chapter's second meeting of the month was held March 25 at La Dolce Casa Restaurant in Tamaqua. This meeting included members of other Beta Sigma Phi chapters and celebrated the Ritual of Jewels ceremony for Susan Clemson. Donna Gerber was also honored, earning a fifth degree of laureate in the sorority. each chapter then held separate business sessions.Senior CitizensThe Tamaqua Senior Citizens group met March 26 at the Tamaqua YMCA, 1201 E. Broad St. The meeting was attended by 65 members, with President Melody Weicker conducting the business session.Secretary Ruthann Feane provided an inspirational reading, "Showers of Blessings." Shirley Shellhammer was added to the sick list, and birthday greetings were extended to Asenth Hora, who celebrated her 96th birthday.The group discussed two upcoming trips: April 30 to Mohegan Sun, and May 12 to Shady Maple.Due to the holiday, the next meeting will be at 1 p.m. April 9. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join. The YMCA is handicap accessible.
