A vehicle stop along Interstate 80 in East Side Borough, Carbon County, resulted in five pounds of marijuana being found and the arrest of a New York state resident.

State police at Fern Ridge said a 2002 Chrysler Voyager was stopped at 2:48 a.m. Tuesday while westbound for traffic violations. At the stop police detected indicators of criminal activity. A consent search of the vehicle was denied.Troopers then summoned a narcotics detection K9 unit to the scene and alerted officers to narcotic odors.A probable cause search was then conducted which resulted in the seizure of the five pounds of marijuana from the cargo area of the vehicle.Arrested on drug possession counts was the passenger, Eric Brandon, of W. Kennedy Street, Syracuse.
