Blakeslee man jailed on charges

Pocono Mountain Regional Police have arrested Andrew Wisniewski, 19, of Blakeslee, on theft and drug charges.

Wisniewski was arraigned and committed to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Richard Claypool.Police said he is charged with theft and receiving stolen property, as well as possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail has been set at $10,000.Police said on Dec. 31, 2014, they were made aware of an employee theft that occurred at the Wawa store in Blakeslee and that store officials had suspected Wisniewski was stealing money from the cash registers during his shift. Police said an investigation revealed video of the man taking money and placing it in his pocket instead of depositing it.Police said they obtained a warrant and took Wisniewski into custody at the apartments above the Blakeslee Diner, where police also seized the marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
