The Tamaqua Area Student Government Association will host the fourth annual Tamaqua MiniTHON this Saturday from 1 to 9 p.m. at the Tamaqua Senior High School. Activities will be held in the Tamaqua Area High School gymnasium and the natatorium.The popular faculty versus student basketball game will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. There will also be a student volleyball tournament from 2 to 4 p.m.; a student dodge ball tournament from 4 to 6 p.m.; an open swim party for elementary students from 4 to 6 p.m.; and a dance for middle school students from 7 to 9 p.m.Music, food and drinks will be available during all of the activities.All proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society to benefit Pediatric Cancer Research.Bucket booksThe Bucket List Book Club will meet at 7 p.m. April 1 at the Tamaqua Community Art Center, 125 Pine St., Tamaqua.Topic for discussion will be the classic "Of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck.The group is open to the public of all ages.For more information, call 570-668-1192 or email

Sunday school will meet at 10:15 a.m.Also Sunday, St. Peter's will host the American Cancer Society's Survivor Breakfast, from 8 a.m. until noon; confirmation class stewardship bazaar will be at 10:30 a.m. and presentation of the Passion Of Christ will be at noon; Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cubs and Cadets meet at 6 p.m.Activities for next week include: Monday, women's Bible study at 6 p.m.; Thursday, Tenebrae service, with Holy Communion, at 7:30 p.m.; Good Friday service at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, egg hunt at 1 p.m.Easter Sunday services will be held at 6:30 and 9 a.m. Both services will include Holy Communion. The church board will be providing breakfast between services.NightfeverSS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 307 Pine St., will host a "Nightfever" event on March 27.The church will be open for anyone interested in stopping in to light a candle, listen to music, speak with a priest or receive words from Scripture.The 5 p.m. Mass will be followed by Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.The public is welcome to attend.
