A domestic dispute in Tamaqua on March 8 has resulted in charges being filed against Michael Joseph Neff, 21, of 538 N. Pine St.
At 3:01 p.m. the victim's mother contacted police to say she was taking her daughter to the hospital after the younger woman had been assaulted by Neff. The victim then went to the police station at 10:12 p.m. to provide a written statement.In it, she said Neff had "flipped out" and began hitting her in the face and pulling her hair. Neff continued pulling her hair, then wrapped his arms around her throat, choking her, even though she was holding her 2-year-old daughter in her arms. At one point he took her down to the floor and had a knee on her back, threatening to kill her.Neff only stopped when he was told to do so by his father, who had heard the altercation and entered the room to investigate.The victim was treated at the hospital for a sprained wrist and contusions to her back and left arm.Neff faces charges of simple assault, making terroristic threats and harassment.
