A Lehigh County man has been cited after he crashed his vehicle into a tree early Friday morning in Carbon County.
State police at Lehighton said the crash occurred at 5 a.m. Friday as a 2003 GMC Sierra operated by Russell J. Walters Jr., 37, of Slatedale, was traveling southbound on Blue Mountain Road west of Ashfield Road, just north of the Carbon Lehigh County Line in East Penn Township.Walters lost control of the vehicle and drove off the west shoulder of the roadway.The vehicle traveled about 7 feet southeast off the west shoulder of the roadway and struck a tree, causing disabling damage to the front end.After initial impact, the vehicle rotated counterclockwise, wedging between another tree, before it came to final rest wedged between two trees and facing southwest, about 7 feet off the west shoulder of the roadway.It's unknown if Walters, who was wearing a lap and shoulder belt, sustained any injury.He has been charged in the crash.
