Lansford woman charged with DUI

A Lansford woman has been cited by Coaldale police after an incident on Feb. 21.

Officers were on patrol along Water Street at 2:57 a.m. when they observed a silver Chevrolet Impala heading east swerving over the center and fog lines. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Megan Marie Welsh of East Snyder Avenue in Lansford.Welsh had an odor of alcohol on her breath and slurred speech. She consented to taking a field sobriety test but was unable to stand or walk after getting out of her vehicle. She was transported to St. Luke's Hospital-Miners Campus in Coaldale for blood work.Test results indicate a blood-alcohol content of 0.208 percent, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08.She was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to stay in the traffic lane, driving on the wrong side of the road and careless driving.
