A 16-year-old Whitehall Township boy has been charged as a juvenile with unlawful possession of weapons of mass destruction, a felony of the second degree, and possessing explosive materials, a felony of the third degree.
A juvenile petition, similar to a criminal information in adult court, has been filed against the juvenile whose name can not be released under the Juvenile Act.
The juvenile also is charged with misdemeanor offenses.
Whitehall police began an investigation after a report of an incident on March 14. Police went to the juvenile's residence and found a locked box in a shed.
The Allentown Fire Department was summoned and determined that the box contained cylinders that had gun powder and a fuse inside and a container of BB pellets.
