Two Coaldale residents were charged following an incident in the borough on March 13.
Officers were dispatched to 154 Third St. at 3:32 p.m. to assist Schuylkill County Children and Youth with a custody transfer. At the home, no one answered when the officer knocked on the door. A short time later, a key holder arrived and unlocked the door for officers. As they entered the home, they encountered Alyssa Gruber, 24.Gruber was standing inside the door, with her hands behind her back. When ordered to show her hands, she did, dropping a tinfoil pack and cotton ball on the floor. At her feet were several white, wax paper bags. On a table behind her was a purple glass pipe with burnt residue. She was placed under arrest.When asked if there was anyone else in the home, she told police that Brenton Gruber, 30, was either in a bedroom or in the backyard.Officers conducted a search and found Brenton Gruber hiding under a bed in a room on the third floor of the home. He was arrested after a pat-down search found a half cut Crayola marker with burnt residue inside and a syringe in his pockets.Meanwhile, downstairs, officers found syringes, two pair of tweezers with residue, two burnt pieces of tinfoil, a green metal tube with black residue, 30 empty wax paper bags with brown residue, several different pills, multiple cotton balls and $136 in cash. The items were all collected as evidence.Both Grubers were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
